Board Director

Are you passionate about community-led arts, equity and inclusive programming?
We're seeking dedicated individuals to join our Board of Directors as we continue to grow.
As a community-focused, socially engaged arts nonprofit, we provide free arts programming for adults. Our board members contribute to both governance and the hands-on work of supporting programs, events, partnerships and organizational growth.
We're looking for people who want to share their skills and experience, collaborate with others and help create more accessible, inclusive opportunities in our community.
What You'll Contribute
Joining our Board is an opportunity to support community-led arts initiatives while developing skills, building relationships and contributing to our continued growth.
Board members:

Help develop free, inclusive arts programming that encourages creativity, connection and participation.

Contribute to organizational planning, governance and decision-making.

Participate in at least one committee or working group and contribute to ongoing projects and initiatives.

Support community events, partnerships, fundraising and outreach.

Contribute approximately 5–8 hours per month to board responsibilities. This may include committee work, community events, projects, outreach and other organizational activities, with time commitments varying depending on upcoming programs and initiatives.

Come prepared, follow through on commitments, communicate openly and contribute to a respectful, collaborative board culture.
Who We're Looking For
We're looking for collaborative, dependable people who are committed to equity and inclusion through the arts.
We strongly encourage applications from 2SLGBTQIA+ and BIPOC individuals, as well as people from other communities that have been historically underrepresented in nonprofit leadership. We value the lived experiences and perspectives of the communities we serve.
As we continue to grow, we're particularly interested in people based in Kjipuktuk (Halifax) and the surrounding Halifax Regional Municipality who can contribute to local events and community initiatives.
Skills & Experience
You don't need previous board experience to apply. We welcome both emerging and experienced leaders.
We're particularly interested in people with experience or an interest in:

Fundraising and resource development

Communications, marketing and community outreach

Human resources or legal matters

Event planning and partnership development
You don't need experience in all of these areas. We're interested in the skills, perspectives and experiences you can bring to the board.
