Arts-based Research

The Creative Community Impact Association (CCIA) explores how artists, educators, and cultural workers transform communities. Our research initiative generates the actionable insights needed to fuel advocacy, refine programming, and ensure that creativity drives measurable, lasting social change across Canada.

Our Goals

  • Measure Impact: Understand the deep social and cultural contributions of creative work

  • Enhance Inclusion: Identify concrete strategies to make creative spaces more accessible

  • Drive Strategy: Use data-driven insights to strengthen our national advocacy and initiatives

  • Build Resilience: Support equitable practices that bolster community strength

Our Approach

We believe research should be as vibrant as the communities it serves. Our methodology is collaborative and participatory, ensuring we engage with creative communities in ways that are ethical, inclusive, and deeply impactful.

The Importance of Research

Evidence powers progress. By bridging the gap between artistic practice and social data, CCIA ensures our programs are results-driven. These insights empower our community of creatives to demonstrate their value and amplify their reach.

Looking Ahead

As this initiative grows, we will invite artists and cultural workers to join our research projects. All findings: including reports, toolkits, and events, will be shared publicly to inspire sector-wide innovation.

Featured Partnership: AccessArt Alliance

We are proud to contribute to the national, multi-year Public Art & Accessibility Research Project,

led by AccessArt Alliance in Toronto. Operating from Halifax, CCIA is expanding the project’s

geographic reach and depth. By incorporating diverse perspectives, we are helping build a

comprehensive understanding of accessibility in public spaces for people with disabilities.
